Sling Media announces two new SlingLink powerline ethernet adapters

New family of SlingLink TURBO products feature high speed Ethernet connectivity via the power lines in your home with no user configuration required.

Toronto, ON – Sling Media, Inc., the Emmy Award-winning creator of the Slingbox™, today announced SlingLink™ TURBO 1 Port and SlingLink TURBO 4 Port, two new HomePlug® powerline solutions designed to make connecting your Slingbox and other home entertainment devices to your network a snap. SlingLink TURBO offers a higher speed connection between the Slingbox and the router creating a better Slingbox experience for customers. The new SlingLink products are available today from Sling Media’s web site, www.slingmedia.com, for an MSRP of $119.99 and $179.99 respectively. In addition the SlingLink TURBO 4 Port is available in many retail locations including Best Buy, Circuit City, Amazon.com and Buy.com, with the SlingLink TURBO 1 Port hitting retail shelves in the coming weeks.

“We want to provide our customers with easy-to-use networking solutions to connect their Slingbox to their broadband connection regardless of where their AV source and network reside in the house,” said Rich Buchanan, vice president of marketing for Sling Media. “The SlingLink TURBO 4 Port solves many of the challenges a consumer has when trying to connect multiple AV devices like a Slingbox, an Xbox or a TiVo to a single Internet connection in another room in the house. Both SlingLink TURBO products deliver the performance and quality Slingbox customers have come to expect from us”.

Compatible with any home router, SlingLink TURBO takes advantage of existing electrical wiring in the home. Packaged as a pair, one SlingLink TURBO plugs directly into an AC outlet near your router while the other SlingLink TURBO is connected near the device you want to network. The result is an instant high-speed Ethernet network without running any new cabling or trying to configure a wireless connection between the two devices. The SlingLink TURBO 1 Port connects one device, like a Slingbox, while the SlingLink TURBO 4 Port connects up to four devices such as a DVR, gaming console or any Ethernet-based consumer electronic product.

“HomePlug technology is a robust solution for connecting various networked entertainment devices to a broadband home entertainment network due to its inherent stability, noise immunity, security, interference-resistance and whole-house coverage,” said Rick Furtney, COO of Intellon Corporation. “Sling Media’s Slingbox is an ideal application for HomePlug-based technology, and they are offering their customers two HomePlug solutions based on differing customer needs”.

Both new SlingLink TURBO products feature Intellon Corporation’s INT5500 HomePlug 1.0 with TURBO chipset, an 85Mbps PHY-rate device which assures that the broadband link is stable and robust, providing the bandwidth needed for a single device as well as multiple AV devices should a customer need the SlingLink TURBO 4 Port solution. Since it is not outlet-mounted, the new SlingLink TURBO provides greater flexibility for consumers who now have multiple entertainment devices which need to be networked to a broadband backbone. The majority of these new devices require increased bandwidth and intelligence in their support of new applications. The SlingLink TURBO 4 Port is the perfect complement to the increased level of sophistication being sought by today’s techno-savvy consumer.

National Hockey League becomes first professional sports league to team with Sling Media, Inc. around forthcoming ‘Clip and Sling’ service

NHL Gives Fans the Power to Pick Their Favorite Hockey Footage To Share with Others through Clip+Sling™ Technology

Toronto, ON – In a first for all major professional sports leagues, the National Hockey League (NHL) is partnering with Sling Media, Inc. around the company’s upcoming Clip+Sling technology. The NHL and Sling Media have signed an agreement whereby Sling Media’s Clip+Sling technology will enable all current and future Slingbox™ customers to clip and share live or recorded segments of NHL programming online with friends, family and others.

“Having the most tech-savvy fans of all major professional sports, who also tend to be early adopters of new technology, makes offering NHL content through Clip+Sling a natural fit,” said Keith Ritter, President, NHL Interactive CyberEnterprises. “This partnership expands the visibility of our NHL games online and we are excited and proud to be the first sports league to offer this service to our fans.”

“The NHL has consistently been at the forefront of embracing new technologies to empower and grow their fan base and we are incredibly proud to have them as our first sports league partner,” said Jason Hirschhorn, President of Sling Media’s Entertainment Group. “Clip+Sling makes it extremely easy for fans to share a priceless moment with others, dramatically changing the way consumers socialize around TV. In addition, it enables content creators to build new communities as well as new revenue and marketing opportunities around their content.”

Clip+Sling is a feature that will be built into Sling Media’s SlingPlayer™ software, giving Slingbox owners the ability to record and share portions of content with just a few short clicks. While customers will need a Slingbox to create and share clips, the clips posted to Sling Media’s forthcoming video destination site will be accessible by anyone. NHL clips posted to this site will be searchable and categorized by NHL as a league and NHL clubs to help users navigate through clips with ease. In addition, the NHL will also make its own long-form and short-form content available on the video destination site.

Clip+Sling is currently in private beta, with the company accepting applications for inclusion in a broader public within the United States and Canada later this summer. Individuals interested in applying for inclusion in the broader public beta can sign up at www.lebowski37.com.

CBS Corporation announces The Creation of The CBS Interactive Audience Network

New Deals Signed with AOL, Microsoft, CNET Networks, Comcast, Joost, Bebo, Brightcove, Netvibes, Sling Media and Veoh, Solidify CBS’s Position as the Most Widely Distributed Professional Content Provider Online

Existing Deals with Amazon, Apple and Yahoo! Also Included, Among Others

Both Clips and Full-Length Content to be Available in the United States and Internationally

Toronto, ON – CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS, CBS.A) announced today the creation of the CBS Interactive Audience Network which will initially include new content deals with a host of online distributors including AOL, Microsoft, CNET Networks, Comcast, Joost, Bebo, Brightcove, Netvibes, Sling Media and Veoh. The agreements, building on the Company’s existing arrangements, solidify CBS’s position as the most widely distributed professional content provider on the Web.

All content will be advertiser supported and free to the consumer. CBS will begin selling the CBS Interactive Audience Network in the coming weeks, including the upcoming Upfront marketplace. Advertising revenue will be shared between CBS and its partners. All content will be available domestically with select clips and full-length sports programming distributed worldwide.

“Today marks an important step in our strategy to distribute content broadly across the online interactive landscape on an open, non-exclusive basis,” said Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS Corporation.” Each of these partners offers value to our audience and our advertisers, who can now come to CBS not only for the most watched network on television, but for the most widely distributed professional content online.”

“CBS’s ability to partner with leading next-generation interactive platforms is the best way for CBS to evolve from a content company to an audience company,” said Quincy Smith, President, CBS Interactive. “It’s really all about the user and in building the CBS Interactive Audience Network, we are bringing our content to each unique platform of their choice. In remaining open to all online distributors and community builders – big and small -we can learn more about our existing audience, be exposed to new ones, and flexibly cater to their changing consumption habits.”

A rotating list within a specified viewing timeframe of programming from entertainment, news and sports will be offered including CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, SURVIVOR, SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, CSTV GAME OF THE WEEK, CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC, among others, including classic programming from the vast library of CBS Television Distribution.

CBS has previously entered into existing and ongoing content distribution arrangements with Yahoo!, Apple iTunes, Microsoft’s Xbox, Amazon UnBox and many others.

Mirroring the online strategy, CBS Mobile also employs direct agreements with each of the three largest US wireless carriers – AT&T/Cingular, Verizon Wireless and Sprint – as well as leading next generation platforms such as Qualcomm MediaFLO.

“This is definitely a progressive approach to content distribution, not only due to its scope, but also because it allows consumers to share and engage with content,” said Curt Hecht, chief digital officer at GM Planworks and a leading digital expert across Starcom MediaVest Group, one of the world’s largest media communications organizations and a division of Publicis. “By pushing beyond simple cable and satellite as distribution outlets, CBS is finding new ways to leverage the reach and scale of the portals, while also giving consumers the control they increasingly demand to share content. This is an exciting new business model and valuable to SMG as we pursue new and enduring consumer connections.”

Rino Scanzoni, Chief Investment Officer with Group M, a leading global media investment management company under WPP, one of the world’s largest communications services groups, added, “Our clients are looking for quality content to resonate their message and for maximum distribution to activate results. CBS will clearly achieve both these objectives, hands down.”

Online partners included in the CBS Interactive Audience Network include:

AOL – AOL is one of the largest Web networks in the United States and attracts more than 108 million unique visitors a month.
“CBS produces some of the best shows on television, and has one of the richest libraries of classic programs anywhere, so their decision to make their content available on AOL is very exciting for consumers,” said Kevin Conroy, Executive Vice President, AOL. “We are delighted to be a distribution partner for CBS. “With one of the most popular programmed video services on the web, MSN video is the best place to go for access to all the best high quality, licensed video content in one place,” said Kevin Johnson, President, Platforms and Services Division, Microsoft. “Our alliance with CBS will allow us to provide consumers an amazing array of video content in a safe and legal manner. The addition of CBS’s most popular content is another great win for MSN customers, for our content partners at CBS, and for our advertising customers.”

Org-Matters Solutions and the for Dummies® team launch the OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet for Dummies®

Turning Chaos to Sanity For Millions of Windows® Users

Toronto, ON – February 6th, 2007 – Org-Matters Solutions Inc., an innovative developer of organizational products, with its key partner John Wiley & Sons, publishers of the best-selling For Dummies series, today unveiled the OrganizeMYTM Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies®. The product is aimed at users of Microsoft® Windows® XP and Vista, to enable them to grab, save, file, and track all their important documents and information.

Today’s launch was held at the TSX Broadcast Centre, and involved a global audience and feature presentations from all of the major strategic partners. In addition, there were displays and material from the broad range of companies involved in the development and distribution of the software — including BMO® Bank of Montreal Mosaik® MasterCard®, Carbonite, The Covenant Group, Sterling Marking Products, Dapasoft, Sony, Cyberbahn, and Keating Technologies.

The OrganizeMYTM Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies software turns chaos to sanity by enabling users to save and file all of their vital information in an easyto-use, pre-loaded file structure. In addition to the pre-loaded file structure, the software also contains life-tracking tools to help users record key details and complete pre-built “To-Do’s” for important life events and responsibilities. It’s all as simple as click-and-save, and covers:

Personal Finance
Net Worth • Investment • Retirement • Borrowing • Real Estate • Insurance • Warranties • Home Inventory • Household Budget & Expenses • Bills & Receipts • Taxes • Will & Estate • and More

Household & Personal
Personal ID • PINs • Passwords • User IDs • Vehicles • Prescriptions • Medical Records • Moving • Renovating • Career • Education • Pets • Travel & Vacations • Special Events • Weddings • and More

Small Business & Professional
Starting a Business • Registering • Incorporating • Bills & Receipts • Banking • Borrowing • Investing • Taxes • Financial Statements • Legal & Accounting • Insurance • Government • Franchising • Inventory • Key Advisors • Customers • and More

The OrganizeMYTM Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies is certified for Microsoft® Windows® XP, with Windows® Vista certification pending. The preloaded folder structure is set up in the user’s “My Documents” folder, and users can grab information from their OutlookTM and Outlook ExpressTM accounts.

“The concept is simple,” said Org-Matters CEO and product creator, Michael Schweizer. “Consumers are overwhelmed with key documentation in a life that always seems to be too hectic and stressful. We all know that of the documents that pass across our eyes and through our hands on any given day, a percentage of them must be kept”.

“OrganizeMY has built a functional software program that makes it easy to grab those key documents, save them, file them in pre-loaded folders, and store them logically on your computer,” said Robert Harris, General Manager, Professional and Trade Division, John Wiley & Sons Canada, Ltd. “This makes for a grand product fit with the For Dummies brand”.

“We approached this with a belief that many software programs are too complicated for the time-constrained consumer,” noted Schweizer. “If our goal is to simplify life and make it easy to save and file life’s key documents, then the software must be intuitive and easy to use — for everyone from my 67-year-old mother to my 17-year-old daughter. That’s why we’re thrilled to bring the Electronic Filing Cabinet to market under the umbrella of the For Dummies brand. When it comes to delivering simple, easy-to-understand “how-to” reference material, For Dummies has a unique leadership position. When people see For Dummies, they know it’ll be easy.

“What I’m really proud of,” added Schweizer, “is that the product is designed to track what matters in life the way that a busy everyday consumer thinks, not the way an accountant thinks. Our research and experience shows us that people want to know where they stand…what they’re worth… the up-to-date big picture status of what’s important to them. They don’t want to be forced to enter balancing debits and credits to get there. While there are some great financial management software programs on the market, they’re really for advanced software users who want to take the time to track every debit and credit. Our product is Life Management Software for busy people, who want to organize and save what matters, but do it as simply and quickly as possible”.

The launch of the OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies gave Org-Matters Solutions Inc. the opportunity to announce some powerful and unique partnerships that will benefit both the software users and the brand.

Starting Feb 7, 2007, BMO® Bank of Montreal Mosaik® MasterCard® cardholders will receive a statement insert allowing them the opportunity to obtain a free copy of the OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies (Personal Finance & Household version) through a download link from the Mosaik MasterCard selfserve web-site at www.bmo.com/mosaik.

“Like the creators of the OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies, we too see life through the eyes of our customers,” said BMO Bank Of Montreal SVP of Card & Retail Payment Services, Mike Kitchen. “We understand that while we play a significant part in the life of our customers by helping them efficiently and innovatively gain access to buying and transaction processing power, we play but a small part in their hectic lives. Having a Mosaik MasterCard means getting a monthly detailed statement, a document of value and importance. If we can help simplify our customers’ lives by providing them access to an efficient software tool that allows them to logically store an electronic version, or scan in a paper version of their statement, we’re thrilled to do it. It represents a significant part of what it means to be a Mosaik MasterCard cardholder. We are here to provide innovative and helpful solutions to make our customers’ lives better and, wherever possible, stress-free”.

With the OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies, users are given the option of secure, affordable online backup by Carbonite, a trusted name in automatic online backup.

“By partnering with Carbonite, we have integrated what we consider to be the best-in-breed and most affordable web-backup solution into the features of the OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies,” said CEO Schweizer. “Carbonite, the chosen web-backup partner for Microsoft® Money, is a simple technology solution that will provide our customers with peace of mind. Users will know that, regardless of whatever catastrophe may befall their computers (loss, theft, or total destruction), their files are backed up and retrievable. That’s huge.

Retail sales and marketing will be provided by Keating Technologies, who will also be delivering world-wide live agent and web-based technical support from their award-winning call centre in Markham, Ontario. User technical support services are already available.

Having taken more than four million customer care calls in its 19-year history, Keating will provide OrganizeMy users with world-class support to ensure their complete satisfaction with the product. Larry Keating, President and CEO of Keating, stated, “The OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies is simple and easy to use, and its stability and utility reflect the kind of solution we are proud to bring to our channels, and to support with tech services. Users will see and enjoy the benefits as quickly as we did”.

“We have assembled an absolute “A Team” of strategic partners and alliances to bring this product to the market. It is this brand partnership approach that will ultimately allow us to achieve our dream of seeing the OrganizeMY™ Electronic Filing Cabinet For Dummies software on every Microsoft® Windows® XP and Windows® Vista desktop in the world,” said Schweizer.
